Russian Female Agent Ordered to Stay In Jail Until Trial

According to Reuters on Wednesday, a US federal judge ordered an accused Russian agent jailed until her trial after U.S. prosecutors argued she has ties to Russian intelligence and could flee the country. The agent, Maria Butina, has not yet been charged with espionage, but said she had been in contact with Russian intelligence operatives and kept contact information for several Russian agents. Butina’s attorney, Robert Driscoll, has said she is not an agent and poses no flight risk.
