Apples Are Good For You. Pesticide-Coated Apples? Not So Much

An apple a day keeps the doctor away...right? Well, not if you're getting an unhealthy dose of pesticide with each and every bite. But don't fret, the Mother Nature Network has a cheap and cheerful method for taking all that nasty bug-killing gunk off your fruit. The Environmental Protection Agency requires that apples sprayed with synthetic insecticides be washed for two minutes in a bleach solution. But that just gets rid of bacteria and dirt--not pesticides.
